March 26, 2015

So far this year IPO and global equity capital market activity is showing double digit growth, except in Japan and Latin America, where it is down by 42% and 85%, respectively. According to the WSJ-dealogic Scorecard, IPOs and secondary offerings and equity linked issuances have improved around the world, particularly in Africa and the US. Overall some USD 217 billion has been raised this year so far, a 21% jump over last year’s volume. In a separate note, dealogic said that much of the stock issuance has been to fund acquisitions. Raising capital is preferable to acquiring loans, it reports.
