European Tech Breaks the Billion Dollar VC Barrier

There was a time when European technology startups barely raised more than one billion dollars in an entire year. Now there is well over a billion a quarter being raised by such companies, according to new research from CB Insights for a total USD 5.7 bn. Elsewhere, Dow Jones VentureSource said European startups (it apparently tracks a wider range of industries than CB Insights), raised USD 8.9 billion, up from USD 6.3 billion in 2013. The figures is largest investment total since 2001 (USD 10.6 billion).
