In a research note,, a real-time salary comparison engine based in the UK, said that it’s a good time to be entering private equity, as it compares well relative to similar jobs in banking and finance. The note was published in August. It examined the salary and bonus data of 260 PE professionals working in London (between 2012 and 2014) and found that following a marked dip in pay in 2013, analysts’ pay (junior level jobs) is “stabilising”.

Analyst total compensation increased by 20% this year to GBP59K, a result of a 2.5x bonus hike. Associate pay at GBP 130K is also stable despite a bonus decrease. Mid-ranking executives have had stable salaries at GBP 152K to GBP 230K, but bonuses shrunk by 50% on average over the last few years. MDs are being compensated better, a 28% increase in base salary and a 50% increase in bonus and other compensation payments to GBP 506K in 2014.
