Looking at the latest fundraising figures data, Preqin analysts say that large buyouts are proving the “most attractive to investors” with a total of USD 67bn raised year to date.
Overall, buyout vehicles have raised USD 126bn, which is USD 10bn more than fundraising levels at the same point in 2013. Driving the growth in large buyout fundraising is an increase in confidence in the economies of the traditional buyout markets of North America and Europe and cheaper debt.
The favoring of large buyouts this year is not mirrored in the mega buyout category. Only four such funds have held a final close to date, the largest of which is the USD 7.3bn raised by Bain Capital Fund XI, according to Preqin.
