Withdrawn M&A Deal Count Declines

April 30, 2015

Data provider dealogic says that despite the increase in withdrawn M&A volume, the number of deals withdrawn is declining so far this year. And global M&A volume is up 30% to USD 1.26 trillion, from the same period last year, the highest YTD volume since 2007. The data shows that the volume of withdrawn M&A deals jumped this year, due in large part to two withdrawn mega-deals (Comcast/Time Warner and the Applied Materials acquisition). Despite that metric, more deals are actually getting done. Currently there are 260 withdrawn M&A deals globally in 2015, down from 293 in 2014 for the same period. It is the lowest figure since 2006 (220).
